Fondale Wins Gold Medal at Pan American Weightlifting Meet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy assistant strength and conditioning coach Joe Fondale recently won a gold medal at the 2013 Pan American Master's Weightlifting Championships in Chicago.
Fondale took first place in the men's 35-year-old group in the 94 kilograms weight class. He registered a top snatch of 112 kilograms and a top clean and jerk of 137 kilograms for a winning total score of 249.
The Pan American Masters meet consists of competitors ages 35 and over from countries in both North and South America.
Earlier this year Fondale repeated as the national master's champion at 94 kilograms at the USA Weightlifting National Master's Championship in Moorestown, New Jersey. The veteran weightlifter has qualified for and competed in nine USA Weightlifting National Championships.
Ensign Fondale, USN is in his fourth year as a strength and conditioning coach at the Naval Academy. He works with the men's basketball, men's track and field, women's soccer and men's and women's golf programs.
