Joe English MS, ATC, is in his 24th year as an athletic trainer at the United States Naval Academy. He was appointed to the position in October 1991, and currently serves as the athletic trainer for club sports, concentrating on boxing and men's & women's rugby. In addition, he is the director of the Midshipmen athletic training assistants program, and teaches the First Aid elective courses for the Department of Physical Education. Within his time at the Academy, English has had the opportunity to provide care for many of the varsity programs, including sprint football, baseball, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, and men's gymnastics.
Prior to Navy, English spent a year as an athletic training intern at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. He worked primarily with the baseball and men's & women's basketball programs, and organized educational in-service training for undergraduate athletic training students at the colleges.
English earned his Master of Science with specialization in Athletic Training from Indiana State University in 1990. While attending graduate school, he served as the head athletic trainer at West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute.
A native of Newark, Ohio, English chose the University of Dayton for his undergraduate education. He majored in Physical Education, and attained his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1988.
English resides in Pasadena with his wife Paula, daughter Karleigh, and son Cooper.
