As a Sophomore: Layne moved from crewing coed dinghies to crewing with Mary Hall during the spring season and really stepped up to the plate. Layne competed in a total of 11 events this year with a top performance of second of 12 in A Division at the MAISA Women's National Qualifier. By finishing second at this regatta the women's team was able to bypass the Semi-finals and automatically qualify for Women's Nationals, the first time the women's team competed in Nationals in three years.
As a Freshman: Layne competed in five events as a crew in both the Fall and Spring seasons with a top finish in the Arrigan Memorial Trophy hosted by Georgetown University, where she finished second in a fleet of nine. Another memorable finish was a fourth of 16 teams at the ODU Spring Open, hosted by Old Dominion University.
Prior to Navy: had never sailed before, but was captain of Girls Preparatory School Varsity Crew Team and member of the Honor Council as well as multiple choirs
Personal: daughter of Rick and Pam Morrison, sister of Hank and Ward,
majoring in Quantitative Economics, loves to cool out.
