As a Freshman: Kent competed in seven events in his first year as a crew at Navy ... his best results included a third-place finish in the Riley Cup, Kings Point Dinghy Open, and the Washington College Team Race.

Prior to Navy: Graduated from Anacortes High School in 2016 ... competed on the Anacortes High School sailing team his senior year and swam all four years on the varsity high school swim team ... member of National Honor Society, high school band, class vice president, and Eagle Scout ... son of Kent and Christine Mathes ... majoring in mechanical engineering.
