Navy earns its second top-10 national finish of the spring.
Navy sailed at Old Dominion, Hampton and Roger Williams this past weekend.
Mids hosted 16-team field this past weekend in Annapolis.
Mids compete in two regattas with light winds.
As a Sophomore: Phil competed in fourteen events. He competed primarily as a double-handed and single-handed skipper but was also a valuable member of the Match Racing team for the Intrepid Trophy. His tops finishes include a 2nd at MAISA Laser Elimination, a 9th in B division at the Rose Bowl and a 2nd at the Tom Noble Team Race. Phil also got the chance to attend the World University Games in Nice, France with the match racing team.
As a Freshman: Philip competed in eight events during his first year at Navy. He proved to be extremely versatile by competing as a skipper for double handed and single handed as well as an extremely valuable member of the sloop team which won MAISA sloops to qualify for ICSA National Match Race. His memorable finishes include a fourth at the MAISA open, a first at MAISA Match Race, and a seventh in C division at the Truxton Umsted Regatta at Navy.
Prior to Navy: Grew up in Coronado, CA and graduated from Coronado High School in 2010. Attended Prep School at Portsmouth Abbey School. Grew up sailing out of Coronado Yacht Club and sailed nationally and internationally in Lasers. Son of Christina Youngberg and brother of Chloe Youngberg. Majoring in History.
