As a Junior: Taylor has competed in eight events as a Junior and his top performances were winning the Tom Noble Team Race which had a total of eight teams and also winning ICSA Match Race National Championship calling tactics. Also of note, Taylor also finished second of 10 teams at the Admiral Moore Team Race at SUNY Maritime.
As a Sophomore: Taylor has competed in 11 events over this season as a skipper for both the co-ed team as well as a member of the "A" Team-Race team. Among his top performances was a 2nd place of 14 teams in A division at the Kings Point Open hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Also worth noting was his 6th place finish in B division at the Hobart Intersectional amongst a field of 17 teams, hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges
As a Freshman: Vann sailed in an impressive total of 13 events in his freshman year. Of those regattas, his best finishes came in the form of a 1st place finish in B division at the ODU Spring Open, hosted by Old Dominion University, and a 3rd place finish in A division at the Riley Cup also hosted by Old Dominion.
Prior to Navy: Grew up in Tampa, Fla. ... Graduate of the H.B. Plant High class of 2009, varsity cross country runner, A founding member of the South Tampa Croquet Society, sailed for fun out of Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa, FL. He enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, hitting golf balls, and cyber bowling.
Personal: Son of David and Cynthia Vann, has 2 older brothers who also attended the Naval Academy. Majoring in Ocean Engineering.
