Intercollegiate Sailing Competed in Three Regattas Over the Weekend
Navy finished second at the Georgetown Team Race.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - It was a busy weekend for the Navy intercollegiate sailing team as the program split up to compete in three different team racing events.
The first major team race of the season was the Bob Bavier Team Race in Charleston, where 10 of the top teams in college sailing squared off to see where they stand as the season gets started. Navy's squad of Michael Grove, Mary Hall, Michael Popp, Layne Morrison, Chelsea Smith, Alex Asuncion, Killian Corbishley and Connor Hendi showed some real speed and skill, but finished a disappointing seventh overall on the weekend. The ceiling looks high for this group, however, and the team is looking forward to seeing how they do after a bit more practice putting the details together.
Closer to home, but much colder, a Navy team comprised of Charlie Peck, Michael Madigan, Patrick Snow, Emma Ferris, Karen Vargas and Molly Robertson competed in the Georgetown Team Race. In a solid fleet Navy finished second overall out of six teams.
Across the Chesapeake Bay, Marissa Lihan, Phil Youngberg, Aaron Hull, Megan Hough, Hannah Hughes, Molly Hanson and Spencer Nora finished fourth overall out of six teams at the Tom Noble Team Race at Washington College.
The sailing team will host the Navy Spring Women's Regatta next weekend and will also compete at the St. Mary's Team Race.
