Navy Sailors Receive ICSA All-Academic Honors
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Twenty-one members of the Navy offshore and intercollegiate sailing teams were recently named to the 2016-17 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) All-Academic Sailing Team. A total of 16 offshore sailing team members and five intercollegiate sailing team members were recognized for their academic success.
Navy’s 21 total nominees were the most for any school this past season.
The ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the 2016-17 academic year.
The criteria for the honorees are that he or she must be a junior or senior, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be a starter or key reserve in at least seven university sponsored regattas.
A seven-person committee comprised of representatives from conferences in the ICSA evaluates the nominated sailors. This year’s All-Academic Team is comprised of 223 members.
