Intercollegiate Sailing Takes Sixth at the Singlehanded National Championship
Nov. 12, 2013
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Two sailors from Navy were among the eighteen who qualified for this year's ICSA / Laser Performance Women's Singlehanded National Championship this past weekend in Newport, R.I.
Narragansett Bay served up cold temperatures, winds in the teens and twenties and strong currents throughout the weekend that proved a true test to all competitors.
Marissa Lihan overcame three capsizes on day one to climb back to sixth place overall, in a tight battle with a number of competitors. Despite being the smallest sailor in the fleet, Mary Hall showed a big heart in toughing it out for all eighteen races, finishing sixteenth in the regatta.
