Navy Takes Third At Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series
Oct. 20, 2005 Annapolis, Md. -- Navy offshore sailing took third place in the Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series after posting a fifth-place finish last weekend. Senior Kris von Krueger (Baton Rouge, La./Admiral Farragut) finished as the top Navy boat in the Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series run over three consecutive Saturdays. Competing against 15 boats in the PHRF A2 division, von Krueger and crew posted consistent finishes of 4th, 6th, and 5th in the three race series to capture third place overall. The crew included helmsman/skipper von Krueger, tactician Nick Hargraves (Sr./Houston, Texas/Florida Air Academy), trimmers John Pierczynski (So../Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius), Andy Tabellion (So./Severna Park, Md./Chesapeake) and Ross Miller (So./Okenos, Mich./Phillips Exeter Academy) and foredeck Ellen Cutrer (Jr.), Dane Watson (So.Indiano, Pa./Indiano) and Jim Paquette (So./Wausau, Wis./West).
Navy will compete this weekend in three events: at the McMillan Cup, an intercollegiate regatta hosted at Navy in Navy 44's, at the J/105 Fleet Championships hosted by Eastport Yacht Club and at the Baltimore Harbor Cup and Fall Back Race, where the teams race from here to Baltimore on Saturday and then race back on Sunday.
