Offshore Sailing Opens Fall Season at the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy offshore sailing team opened the 2017 fall season with six crews competing at the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta this past weekend. Navy's best finish was a fourth-place showing by Gallant in Class A2, while junior Paige Krumwiede won the Ruth Wilcox Trophy for the best finish by a female skipper in the 91-boat regatta on Allegiance.
Senior Robert LaGuardia skippered Gallant to the fourth-place finish in the 14-boat fleet in Class A2. Senior Ted Papenthien skippered to Defiance to a fifth-place finish in Class A2, just point behind Gallant. Senior Gunnar Hough skippered Tenacious to seventh place in the class while senior captain Christopher Cantillo skippered Integrity to 10th.
Krumwiede won the Ruth Wilcox Trophy while skippering Allegiance in the J/105 class. Allegiance was 13th in the 16-boat fleet. Junior George Davis and his crew aboard Avenger were one spot back in 14th place in the same class.
