ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy offshore sailing team had five teams competing in two events this past weekend on the Chesapeake Bay.

In the first event, Navy hosted the Shields Trophy Regatta which is the annual championship for Service Academies. James Chesson led his crew of eight to victory in the two-day, seven-race series beating nine other teams including Army, Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine Academy

In the NASS race to Oxford, Dillon Rossiter finished third out of 23 in class PHRF A2 and Colin Nevins finished fouth in the same class.

Mary Cox led her crew to a third-place finish out of nine in the J105 class and Taylor Marton finished fifth in the same class.

The team will host the US Offshore Championships this coming Friday through Sunday here on the Chesapeake Bay.
