Navy Offshore Sailing Wins Storm Trysail Regatta

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Three Navy offshore sailing crews were in Larchmont, N.Y., competing in the Storm Trysail Club's Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta while two J/105 crews completed their Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series one design.
The Storm Trysail Regatta is the largest intercollegiate regatta in the country with upwards of 400 sailors competing aboard 45 loaned boats in five classes.
In the STC Regatta, the three crews were first, first and second respectively and won the Hoffman Trophy for best overall performance in the regatta.
Team captain Andrew Shea with crew Mary Cox, Phil Reynolds, Ralph Duffett, David Medina, Taylor Marton, Mary Senoyuit, Jordan Kellett and Neil McMillan prevailed over Tufts in the finals to win the Jim Bishop Perpetual Trophy in the first running of match racing aboard a pair of Formula One 52 footers on loan from Brewer's Boatyard. Also competing in this division were Kings Point and SUNY Maritime Academy.
In IRC Class 1, Steve Jaenke along with his crew including Charlie Johnson, Kelsey Ragsdale, Sam Ross, Sean Brown, Andy Beeler, Roscoe Thomas and Ethan Madison scored a dominating win with a scoreline of 3,1,1,1,1. Jaenke's team was also awarded the Paul Hoffman Trophy for Best Overall Performance in the regatta!
In the J/44 class. Bryan Weisberg with crew Glendon Bartlett, Christian Smith, Alexa Ciarolla, Greg Gerlach, Aaron Dougherty, Paddy O'Brien, Brandt Clemons, and Jack Lahey came back strong from a tough first day to pull into a three-way tie for first, but settling for second after tiebreakers were applied.
In the Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series, the crew aboard Allegiance and Dreadnought finished second and 12th in the 13-boat J/105 class to end up fifth and 12th overall.
