Varsity Offshore Sailing Competes at Two Regattas

Navy competed in two regattas last weekend.

ANNAPOLIS, Md - The Navy varsity offshore sailing team competed at the Storm Trysail Club's Invitational Regatta and the Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series Long Distance Race this past weekend.

Navy had two boats competing at the Storm Trysail Club in Larchmont, N.Y. and one boat at the Annapolis Yacht Club.

In Larchmont, senior Nick Padleckas led his crew to second place of five boats in the J/44 class while junior Josh Forgacs and crew placed second of 11 boats in the J/105 class.

At the Annapolis YC Fall Series Distance Race, junior Nick Tucker placed seventh of 11 boats.

Conditions for both regattas were challenging with lots of wind and rain.

The Navy varsity sailing team also has a crew in Pornic, France competing in the Student Yachting World Cup representing the USA, led by team captain senior Andrew Beeler.
