Beeler Leads Team USA to Third at World Cup

Navy placed third of 14 teams.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Led by Navy varsity offshore sailing team captain Andrew Beeler, a team from the U.S. Naval Academy representing Team USA placed third overall of 14 international teams at the Student Yachting World Cup help last week on the waters off Pornic, France.

The regatta featured 18 races over six days in widely ranging conditions and tested all aspects of the teams' sailing and racing skills. Beeler's crew included fellow seniors Roscoe Thomas, Neil McMillan, and Alexa Ciarolla, plus sophomore Charlie Morris.

France won the Student Yachting World Cup.

Next up for for the varsity offshore sailing team is the McMillan Cup and Fall Keelboat Invitational Regatta both being hosted at Navy this coming weekend.
