FRESHMAN (2012): Thornton was one of two freshmen (along with Thompson) that appeared in all 12 competitions ... she averaged 540.8 in the smallbore and 564.5 in the air rifle ... finished the year with a season-high air rifle score of 573 at the MAC Championship ... ended the fall season with a season-high 560 in the small bore against John Jay and started the winter season with another 560 in the small bore against Alaska.

PERSONAL: A 2011 graduate of Barrington High School, Thornton participated in cross country and track and field and on the rifle team at the Massasoit Gun Club ... was a member of the Student Council and National Honor Society and voluteered her time at the Atria Bay Spring Village ... daughter of Rod and Lynn Thornton ... born in Providence, R.I. ... has studied weaponry from archery and fencing to rifles and handguns since she was a little kid.
