Rifle Completes Day One of the GARC Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - The Navy rifle team completed its first day of competition at the Great American Rifle Conference Championships on Saturday in Oxford, Miss. The Mids are competing as a guest at the tournament and took part in the team smallbore finals on Saturday. Air rifle will take place on Sunday.
Navy fired a smallbore total score of 2275. West Virginia led all eight teams with a 2335, edging Kentucky by six points for first place. Kentucky and West Virginia are two of four GARC teams that qualified for this year's NCAA Championships.
Junior Steven Frazier led all Navy shooters as he placed 14th in the individual smallbore competition with a score of 579, which was 1.2 points over his season average. Senior Ryan Williams followed with a 571. Jodi Cull-Host shot a 570, while Alex Berry and Zach Gibson both fired a 555.
WVU's Petra Zublasing led all shooters on Saturday with a score of 595.
Sunday's air rifle competition will get underway at 8 a.m., while the finals will begin at 12:45 p.m.
