ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy rifle team looks to end the fall season on a high note when it hosts John Jay College on Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range. Navy enters the match with a 3-0 dual-meet record.
It will be the final competition of the fall season for the squad as the team's next match will be on Jan. 19 in the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range against national power Alaska.
"We obviously want to put up a good effort in our final competition of the fall season on Friday," said Navy head coach Bill Kelley. "This match is important for us to put up a good home score and to carry some momentum into the two-month break we are about to enter. We are still looking for some consistency and need to start shooting what we are capable of. I am confident we can do that tomorrow."
Navy is off coming off a third-place overall finish at the President's Trophy, while its NCAA-counting score of 4607 placed second. The Mids have recorded a season-high overall score of 4611, which came in the win over the University of the Sciences on Oct. 8. The 4607 last weekend was Navy's second-highest score of the season.
In the smallbore discipline, Navy has recorded a season-high score of 2292 against the University of the Sciences and recorded a 2286 last weekend at the President's Trophy. In air rifle, the Midshipmen's top score came with a 2323 during the MAC Tournament on Oct. 2, and their 2321 last weekend was just two points shy of the top mark.
