CANTON, N.Y. — The 15th-ranked Navy squash team (24-6) dropped just its sixth match of the season after being swept by 10th-ranked St. Lawrence (9-4), 9-0, Saturday afternoon in New York. The Saints have been on the upswing all season earning wins over top-10 programs Williams (9-0) and Columbia (8-1).
The best match of the day was at the No. 2 slot where St. Lawrence sophomore Ibrahim Khan jumped out to a 2-0 advantage over Navy sophomore Jim Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.). Kacergis, however, fought back by winning the next two games, 11-8 and 11-9. The fifth game came down to the end with Khan taking the deciding game, 12-10, for the match.
The Mids pushed four other matches to four games, including the No. 3 and 9 positions where seniors Hunter Bouchard (Greenville, Del.) and Cotter Walker (Orlando, Fla.) won their opening game of the match before succumbing in four.
Navy will play its regular-season finale next Sunday when it plays host to seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall at the Halsey Field House International Squash Courts beginning at 3:00 pm.
