ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Tenth-ranked Dartmouth (1-0) used the momentum from winning three five-game matches to pull ahead of the Mids and defeat the 14th-ranked Navy squash team (10-3), 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Halsey Field House in Annapolis.

Navy pocketed a pair of wins behind its No. 2 and 3 players, freshman Jack Lentz (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior team captain Jack Herold (Chicago, Ill.), respectively.  Lentz fell behind in his match against junior Carson Spahr, dropping the opening game, 11-7.  The rookie battled back and won three in a row, 11-5, 12-10, 11-9, to capture the victory and improve to 12-1 on the year.

Herold, meanwhile, also improved to 12-1 after putting away Dartmouth rookie Toby Harding in three games, 11-8, 12-10, 11-9.

After winning the first game in his match against freshman Reg Anderson, junior Dylan Sweeney (New York, N.Y.) dropped two in a row at the No. 7 position.  Sweeney, though, fought his way back into the match be scoring an 11-9 victory in the fourth.  Anderson, however, would salt away the match with an 11-6 win in the fifth.

Second-year standout Owen Davis (Rydal, Pa.) s had his 10-match winning streak snapped at the No. 8 slot.  Dartmouth’s James Bell jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Davis answered with back-to-back wins, 11-2 and 13-11 to force a fifth game.  The two players traded points until Bell finally was able to close out the victory in the fifth, 15-13.

Sophomore Drew Monroe owned a 2-1 advantage in his match against Greg Hyer (Tenafly, N.J.) at the No. 9 spot before the Navy senior rallied to knot the match at 2-2 with an 11-1 win in the fourth.  Monroe, however, would prove to be victor with an 11-5 win in the fifth.

Junior Senen Ubina (Greenwich, Conn.) also saw his 10-match winning streak derailed as junior Matt Giegerich dealt Ubina a 3-1 loss at the No. 4 position.

The Midshipmen will take the next month to focus on final exams and enjoy the holiday break before returning to the courts on Jan. 13 when they play host to #7 Drexel.
