Feb. 21, 2009
MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The Navy baseball game against Pittsburgh in the Service Academy Spring Classic at USA Stadium was postponed due to rain after one inning of action and the score tied at one.
With the rain affecting all the scheduled games on Saturday, Navy will attempt to play two games on Sunday. The Midshipmen are going to take on Bradley for the first time in school history at 11 a.m. ET (10 a.m. CT) and then will pick up where the game against Pittsburgh left off in the beginning of the second inning.
Live stats for both contests will be available via GameTracker on www.NavySports.com(.)
- The postponement due to rain on Saturday was Navy's first since rain pushed the second game of its doubleheader at Bucknell last year on April 20 to the following day.
- Prior to Saturday's contest, Rear Admiral Mark D. Guadagnini, Chief of Naval Air Training and father of Navy baseball player Mike Guadagnini, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
- Saturday's game was moved up 15 minutes due to the forecast for rain.
