Goodridge Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Freshman Tommy Goodridge (San Diego, Calif.) was announced on Monday as the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week. The right-handed pitcher was selected by the league in recognition of his shutout performance versus Maryland Eastern Shore last week.
Making his second collegiate start, Goodridge opened Thursday’s game versus Maryland Eastern Shore with 4.1 innings of perfect, no-hit baseball. Over the course of his 7.0-inning outing he allowed just three hits and a single run in the fifth. He walked zero Eastern Shore players and struck out four. The freshman faced just two over the minimum (23) in his seven innings. Goodridge improved to 3-0 on the season as the Mids rolled to a 16-1 victory.
This is the first weekly award of Goodridge’s career and the fourth honor as a program for the Mids in 2018. On Feb. 26, the trio of Jacob Williamson (Player), Noah Song (Pitcher) and Jared Leins (Rookie) were selected by the Patriot League.
Goodridge and his teammates will next be in action this Wednesday afternoon with a road contest at Maryland Eastern Shore. The Mids and Hawks will get going at 3 p.m. at Arthur Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Md.
