Baseball Begins Six-Game Home Stand on Wednesday vs. Delaware State

After playing six games in Florida, the Navy baseball team has returned to Annapolis and will begin a six-game home stand on Wednesday with Delaware State. The two teams will meet at 3 p.m. at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.
Midweek Quick Hitters
When NCAA statistics were released on Monday, the Navy pitching staff ranked 41st in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings with an average of 8.1. Navy's strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.83 is currently 26th-best in the country.
Senior Ben Nelson was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week on Monday for the third time this season after striking out a career-high 13 batters in Navy's 6-5 win over Yale last Saturday. With 39 Ks and just three walks in five starts this season, Nelson ranks fifth in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio. Nelson's 39 Ks rank 23rd in the country and his walks per nine innings average of 0.78 ranks 26th.
For the third consecutive week, senior outfielder Greg Dupell ranks among the nation's best in doubles. Dupell's 10 doubles rank seventh in the country, just three behind the national leader.
Junior first baseman Kash Manzelli continues to lead Navy at the plate as he currently boasts a .333 batting average. His 21 hits and 13 runs scored are also tops on the team. Manzelli led Navy over its six-game trip to Florida as he hit .391.
Dupell leads Navy in RBIs with 13, which also ranks in a tie for second in the Patriot League. He has three multi-RBI games and six multi-hit games so far this season.
With nine appearances out of the bullpen this season, Joel Rinehart now has a career total of 64, which ranks second in program history.
So far in 2013, the Mids haven't walked an opposing batter in four of their 18 games. Last season, Navy didn't issue a walk in just four of its 52 games.
About Delaware State
The Hornets enter Wednesday's game at 12-6 on the season and are coming off a three-game sweep of Norfolk State last weekend ... As a team, DSU is hitting .308, with Cameron Cecil's .362 average leading the team ... Aaron Nardone is the team's top run-producer with 16 RBIs ... On the mound, the Hornets have a 4.57 ERA and opponents are batting .260 against them.

Navy will host Princeton in a four-game series this weekend, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and then close the series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
