ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy baseball team will take to the road on Wednesday to Georgetown in its final game before kicking off Patriot League play this weekend at Holy Cross. The Mids and Hoyas will conclude its two-game 2017 series at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda Md. on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m.

The first game of the teams' 2017 series occurred last month on Feb. 28 in Annapolis, as Georgetown defeated Navy by an 11-3 final score. A fast start by the Hoyas with five runs over the first two innings set the Mids back in a deficit that they would be unable to overcome over the course of play that day.

In defeat, the trio of Logan Knowles, Leland Saile and RHP reliever Andrew Sauer highlighted Navy's effort. On offense, Knowles was 2-for-4 with two runs scored from his leadoff spot in the batting order, while Saile went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Mids' cleanup hitter. On the mound, Sauer came in relief and tossed 4.0 scoreless innings. The sophomore pitcher didn't allow any of the first 10 Georgetown batters he faced to record a hit.

Probable Pitchers

Freshman RHP Thomas Wilson is scheduled to make his first collegiate start for Navy on Wednesday ... The first-year hurler has made two brief scoreless appearances out of the bullpen for the Mids so far this season with a one-inning stint on March 8 versus Maryland Eastern Shore (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) and March 18 against New York Tech (1.0 IP) ... Wilson will be on a pitch count on Wednesday as he has yet to throw more than 19 pitches in an outing in 2017.

Georgetown will send senior RHP Nick Leonard to the mound on Wednesday ... The team's regular midweek starter and weekend reliever, Leonard has appeared in seven games so far in 2017 with four starts ... He started last week for Georgetown on Wednesday, March 22 and hurled 5.0 innings of seven-hit ball versus Coppin State ... The Eagles plated three runs (none earned) versus Leonard in the midweek dip ... For his career, Leonard has appeared in 34 games over 101.0 innings and posted a 7-1 record and .266 opponents' batting average.
