Baseball Travels to UMES on Tuesday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy baseball team will jump back into action on Tuesday when it travels to Princess Anne to take on Maryland-Eastern Shore at 3 p.m. The Mids are coming off a series split at Holy Cross over the weekend, while the Hawks went 1-2 at Norfolk State.

Quick Hitters
Dave Milanes led Navy at the plate over the weekend against Holy Cross, going 9-for-16 (.563) ... The senior went 3-for-4 in game one and 4-four-5 in game two on Sunday with a combined three RBIs.

• Freshman Robert Currie was the only Mid to have a hit in all four games against Holy Cross ... The outfielder hit .462 (6-for-13) and had an on-base percentage of .533 in the series.

• The Midshipmen were 8-of-9 in stolen base attempts this past weekend, including four swipes in Sunday's game-one victory, which was their most in a Patriot League game since stealing six bases in a win at Lehigh on April 3, 2011.

• Navy's 43 hits in the four games against Holy Cross matched its season-high hit total for a series as the Mids also had 43 against Army ... Navy's .336 batting average against the Crusaders was its best in a conference series since posting a .386 mark in a four-game set at Lafayette May 1-2, 2010.

• Navy continues to lead the Patriot League in pitching with a 4.12 ERA and .255 opponent batting average ... The staff's 263 strikeouts also rank first in the conference.

• Navy pitching combined to hold the Crusaders' league-leading offense to just six extra-base hits - all doubles - over the weekend.

Kash Manzelli ranks third in the conference with a .355 batting average and his 49 hits lead the league.

Greg Dupell's 28 RBIs are tied for first in the conference and his 71 total bases are tops in the league.

Navy defeated UMES, 9-4, in their earlier meeting this season on March 27 in Annapolis, since then, the Hawks have lost 11 of their past 12 games and are currently 6-32 overall and 3-12 in the MEAC ... The Hawks are hitting .255 as a team and Byron Campbell leads all players with a .325 average ... Brandon Schott is the team leader in RBIs with 22 ... UMES has a team ERA of 6.87 and an opponent batting average of .341.

Navy will take on Lafayette this weekend in Annapolis. Saturday's doubleheader will begin and noon and Sunday's twin bill will start at 1 p.m. as game one will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
