Navy To Face Off with Army West Point in Annual Star Series Matchup
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Navy baseball team will hit the back stretch of Patriot League regular season play this weekend when the Mids travel north to West Point, N.Y. for a four-game showdown with their archrival, the Army Black Knights. The Mids (30-12, 10-2 PL) have already clinched a spot in the Patriot League postseason, but will be looking to secure home-field advantage as well as win the 2017 Star versus the fourth-place Black Knights (19-21, 7-5 PL). Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. at Doubleday Field, while Sunday’s twinbill is set for a 12 p.m. first pitch. Game one on both days will be seven regulation innings, while game twos are set for nine.
Should the series end deadlocked at 2-2, the tiebreaker stipulation calls for the annual Star to go to the team that was victorious in Saturday’s game one.
This is the final Star matchup of the 2016-17 Star Series presented by USAA. Last Saturday, Navy's athletic department clinched the overall title and improved to 13-9 in contests with a Star on the line.
