Baseball Heads To Delaware State for Midweek Matchup

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy baseball team will complete its season series with Delaware State this Wednesday when it travels to Dover, Del., to take on the Hornets at 3 p.m. The Mids have won six of their last seven, including taking three of four games from Lafayette this past weekend. Delaware State has won seven of its last eight games and is 27-11 on the year.
Midweek Quick Hitters
The Navy pitching staff continues to lead the Patriot League in ERA (3.91), opponent batting average (.257) and strikeouts (306).
The Mids have three players that rank in the top five in the conference in hits ... Kash Manzelli leads the league with 55 hits, while Dave Milanes ranks fourth with 51 and Greg Dupell is tied for fifth with 50.
Dupell, Manzelli and Milanes are also all near the top of the league in RBIs ... Dupell's 33 RBIs lead the conference, while Manzelli's 28 and Milanes' 27 rank fourth and fifth, respectively.
Dupell's 15 doubles rank 28th in the nation ... His 21 combined extra-base hits leads the Patriot League.
Manzelli and Milanes enter Wednesday's game each with team-high eight-game hitting streaks ... Brandon Beans has reached base safely in 10 consecutive games.
Navy's four extra-innings wins this season are a program record ... Navy has had three extra-inning wins several times in program history, most recently in 2008.
Navy leads the league in runners caught stealing with 23.
The Mids' .981 fielding percentage in the four games against Lafayette this past weekend was their best in a Patriot League series since posting a .984 mark against the Leopards last season.
About the Hornets
DSU is 27-11 overall and its 16-2 MEAC record leads the league ... The Hornets have six regular starters hitting .336 or above, including Mike Alexander (.375), Cameron Cecil (.365), Hassan Evans (.357), JP Frey (.350), Aaron Nardone (.346) and Ryan Haas (.336) ... As a team, the Hornets are hitting .350 ... Alexander (37) and Nardone (36) lead the team in RBIs ... The pitching staff has an ERA of 3.93 and is holding opponents to a .250 batting average.

Trailing 10-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Navy rallied for four runs and went on to win, 12-10. Senior Dave Milanes had a career day as he went 5-for-5 with seven RBIs as the Mids registered 18 hits.
Navy will play its final regular-season Patriot League series this Saturday and Sunday at Lehigh. The Mids are 9-7 in conference play and are alone in third place.
