CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy junior corner infielder Greg Dupell was named Patriot League Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference today. The award is the second of Dupell's career as he last garnered the honor on March 28, 2011.
In six games last week, Dupell was 11-for-21 (.524) at the plate with 11 RBIs. Dupell started the week with a 3-for-3, three-RBI performances in a win over UMES and went on to drive in seven more runs in a four-game sweep of Lafayette. The native of Tampa, Fla., went 3-for-5 with a career-high five RBIs in Navy's 21-3 win on April 21 as he homered and later doubled twice in the Mids' eight-run eighth-inning. He picked up two hits in each of the last two games of the series, including a solo home run in the finale.
Dupell now has five home runs this season and his career total of 12 is tied for ninth place on Navy's all-time homer list. Dupell leads the Patriot League in RBIs this season with 40 and is currently hitting .321.
