On Tuesday, a pair of Mids earned recognition for their play this past week as Zach Biggers was selected as the Patriot League's Corvias Rookie of the Week and Travis Blue garnered the nod as the Naval Academy Athletic Association's Athlete of the Week.
In action versus George Mason and at Army, Biggers had hits and RBIs in four of the five games as Navy went 4-1. The freshman second baseman tallied a team-high six RBIs over the week. An offensive sparkplug for Navy, Biggers scored the Mids' first run in Saturday's game one before later breaking open a 2-1 game with a two-run triple. On Sunday, he broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning with a lead-off solo home. For the week, Biggers hit .400 with four runs scored, a triple, one home run, six RBIs and a .733 slugging percentage.
Blue earned his accolade for leading Navy from his shortstop position during the Mids' 4-1 week of play. The senior batted .450 and slugged .700, while recording a team-high seven runs scored. Blue's nine hits and three extra-base knocks were also team-highs as he notched two doubles and one home run to go along with five RBIs. He helped lead Navy to a doubleheader sweep on Sunday versus Army with three hits and an RBI in game one and a single, double, home run and four RBIs in game two.
