Beans Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy freshman Brandon Beans was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday it was announced by the conference office. It is the first Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor for Beans, as he joins Taylor Cato and Preston Gainey as the third Midshipman to garner the award this season.
Beans helped Navy to a 4-1 record last week as he went 9-for-19 (.474) in the five games. The Hartsville, S.C., native had a hit in all five games, including doubles in four consecutive contests.
Hitting from the leadoff spot, Beans' bat proved critical in Navy winning three of four games at Holy Cross as he hit .444 in the series. Beans had two RBIs in the series opener and also drove in runs in games two and three of the series.
Beans has appeared in 34 games this season, making 29 starts in the outfield, and is currently hitting .287.
Navy will be back in action on Wednesday when it takes on Georgetown at 7 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field in Rockville, Md.
