ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy baseball team will play host to the Lafayette Leopards at noon Saturday at Bishop Stadium to close out the regular season. Prior to the game, Navy will honor its eight seniors who will be playing their final regular season home games this weekend.

The Mids enter the weekend one game behind Bucknell, who plays host to Army, in the Patriot League standings. If the two teams tie for first, Navy would win the tiebreaker on the basis of winning three out of four from the Bison earlier this season.

Navy (18-22-1, 11-5 Patriot League) is on a roll, winning five of its last six games and six of its last eight league games. Most recently, the Mids scored a 6-4 comeback victory over Atlantic 10 leader Temple Wednesday afternoon at Bishop Stadium.

David Woolsey (Jr./Columbia, S.C.) has recorded a hit in seven of Navy's last eight games and leads the team with a .361 batting average. Nick Sylvester (Sr./Greenwood, Ind.) is hitting .328 overall with 39 hits, a team-high 10 doubles, two home runs, and 22 RBIs.

Matt Cooney (So./Mountaintop, Pa.) and Matt Foster (So./Ventura, Calif.) lead the Navy pitching staff. Cooney is 3-1 with a 3.00 earned-run average and 19 strikeouts, while Foster is 3-0 with a 3.29 ERA and a team-high 25 strikeouts in his four Patriot League starts. Opponents are hitting under .250 against both Cooney and Foster.

Lafayette (9-28, 4-12) brings some powerful offensive numbers into the series, batting .306 as a team with 58 doubles, 16 triples and 29 home runs. Vince D'Angelis is hitting .402 with 43 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 24 RBIs. Adam Rosenberg leads the Leopards in hits (44) and RBIs (32), while Jason Boyd, the reigning Patriot League Player of the Week, is batting .339.

While the Lafayette offense has been strong this season, the same cannot be said for the Leopards' pitching staff. With a team ERA of 7.77, opponents are hitting an incredible .342 against Lafayette and the Leopards have given up 75 doubles, 10 triples and 46 home runs this season.
