Baseball Wraps Up Regular Season With Two Games This Week

After clinching the third seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Lehigh on Sunday, the Navy baseball team will get back to work with a pair of games this week. The Mids will close out their regular season schedule by hosting Coppin State at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Max Bishop Stadium and then traveling to Delaware State for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday.
Midweek Quick Hitters
With eight hits in six games last week, Alex Azor moved into fifth place on Navy's all-time hits list as he now has a career total of 206 ... His 35 doubles rank 11th in program history.
With Kash Manzelli's 13-game hitting streak coming to an end in game two of Sunday's doubleheader with Lehigh, Greg Dupell's eight-game hitting streak is currently the longest on the team ... Manzelli's hitting streak was the longest by any Midshipman this season.
Freshman Brad Borosak returned to pitch in game two of Sunday's doubleheader after being out of action since March 21 due to an injury ... Borosak pitched a hitless final three innings in Sunday's 2-1 victory, earning his first collegiate win.
Greg Dupell continues to lead the Patriot League in RBIs with 42 ... He has at least one hit in 16 of the last 17 games and is hitting .446 over the span.
In the last two Patriot League sets against Lafayette and Lehigh, the Navy pitching staff has a combined ERA of 2.39 and held the two opponents to a .224 batting average.
The Navy pitching staff continues to lead the league in strikeouts with a total of 309.
Alex Azor's .336 batting average ranks fifth in the Patriot League.
Nikolai Simonsen, Greg Dupell and Andrew Hahn are all tied for the league lead in triples with five apiece ... As a team, Navy has a conference-best 24 triples, which is 10 more than second-place Bucknell.
Against Coppin State and Delaware State This Season
Navy defeated Coppin State, 5-0, in their meeting earlier this season on April 4. The Mids scored four runs in the first inning and used a combination of four pitchers to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard. Starting pitcher Anthony Parenti earned the win.
Navy and Delaware State will be meeting for the second time in two weeks as the Hornets downed the Mids, 4-1, in Annapolis on April 18. The Mids produced just five hits in the loss and the Hornets' three-run first inning turned out to be the difference.
Coppin State enters Tuesday's game at 1-41. The Eagles defeated George Mason last week before dropping three games to Delaware State this past weekend.
Delaware State brings an 11-game winning streak in Wednesday's game as the Hornets are now 29-14-1 overall on the year and 17-1 in conference play.
Navy will travel to Holy Cross the weekend of May 12-13 to take on the Crusaders in the best-of-three Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
