Anthony Parenti Named NAAA Athlete of the Week

May 1, 2014

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy junior LHP Anthony Parenti (Elizabeth, N.J.) has been named the Naval Academy Athlete of the Week, presented by Rolls Royce following his performance versus Army last Saturday.

A two-time NAAA Athlete of the Week honoree, Parenti continued his dominant junior campaign with his third complete game shutout (fifth combined) of the 2014 season as he went seven innings in Game One on Saturday versus Army in a nationally televised game. For the fifth time in 11 starts, the junior southpaw didn't allow a runner to reach third base as he held the Black Knights to just two hits and two walks as Navy won the game, 4-0. Parenti struck out seven Army batters in the seven-inning ball game and lowered his ERA to 0.93 and opponents' batting average to .188 on the year.

Parenti and the Mids completed their regular season with a 23-26 overall record and 9-11 mark in Patriot League play. Seeded fourth in the upcoming Patriot League postseason tournament, Navy will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to take on the top-seeded Bucknell Bison in a best-of-three semifinal matchup beginning on Saturday, May 10. The winner of the Bucknell-Navy will advance to play the victor of the #2 Army and #3 Lehigh series during the weekend of May 17 for the 2014 Patriot League title and automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
