Dupell Named to Academic All-Patriot League Team

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy sophomore first baseman Greg Dupell was named to the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League Team, it was announced on Tuesday. The Patriot League's sports information directors selected the team.
The Academic All-Patriot League Team has been added for all sports beginning in the 2010-11 season to honor additional student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The baseball Academic All-Patriot League Team has 12 student-athletes to equal the size of the sport's All-Patriot League first team.
Dupell, who was also named to the All-Patriot League second team as well on Tuesday, is a history major and currently has a 3.25 GPA.
On the field, Dupell has ranked near the top of the conference in several offensive categories. His 57 hits are tied for seventh in the league, and his 44 runs scored are tied with teammate Alex Azor for tops in the conference.
The Tampa, Fla., native is currently hitting .319 on the season.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
