Navy Baseball Announces Incoming Freshman Class

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy baseball head coach Paul Kostacopoulos has announced this year's incoming freshman class, which includes 13 student-athletes representing nine states. The class of 2016 includes several all-area and all-conference selections, as well as numerous team captains and MVPs.

"We're excited to have all of the freshmen on campus becoming acclimated with the Naval Academy," said Kostacopoulos. "We look forward to working with them this fall."

The freshmen are currently at the Academy attending plebe summer, which began June 28. Fall baseball practice is scheduled to begin the first week of September.

Conner Adamski • C • 5-11/185 • Naperville, Ill./Naperville North
Two-time all-conference and all-area selection ... earned two varsity letters at Naperville North High School and played club baseball for the Illinois Sparks.

Andrew Bartek • RHP • 6-2/215 • Jefferson, Ga./Jefferson
Three-year letterwinner at Jefferson High School where he was named team MVP and offensive player of the year as a senior ... earned first-team all-region honors as a sophomore.

Robert Currie • OF • 5-9/160 • Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School
Captained the baseball team as a senior and earned all-area honors ... four-year letterwinner that helped The Lovett School to the 2009 Georgia AA state championship.

Brenden DelMonte • LHP/OF • 6-1/205 • Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West
Three-time, first-team all-conference selection and two-time team MVP at Cherry Hill High School West ... as a senior he earned conference player of the year honors and was a Philadelphia Inquirer All-South Jersey selection.

Connor Deenan • OF • 6-1/170 • Tustin, Calif./Beckman
Named first-team All-Pacific Coast League, team MVP and was selected to the All-City Team by the Irvine World News as a senior at Beckman High School.



Sean Gallagher • IF • 6-3/210 • Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton
Two-time all-conference selection at Boca Raton High School ... named team captain as a senior and was selected to play in The Palm Beach Post's Senior All-Star Game.

Luke Gillingham • LHP • 6-3/200 • Coronado, Calif./Coronado
Named to the MaxPreps San Diego All-League Team as a junior ... forced to miss his senior season due to an injury.

Drew Hayes • IF • 5-9/165 • Collegeville, Pa./Malvern Prep
Two-time team captain and first-team all-league selection ... earned second-team all-league honors as a sophomore and helped Malvern Prep to the state championship as a freshman.

John Lapoint • OF • 6-2/200 • Kennebunk, Maine/The Governor's Academy (Mass.)/NAPS
Three-time all-league honoree at The Governor's Academy in Byfield, Mass. ... Under Armor Preseason All-America selection as a senior.

Pat Lien • C • 5-10/170 • Windermere, Fla./Olympia/Mercersburg Academy
Named team captain and team MVP at Mercersburg Academy ... also selected to the All-Mid Atlantic Prep League and All-Independent-Parochial School League teams.

Ryan Moody • IF • 5-11/175 • Fort Worth, Texas/Boswell/NAPS
Garnered first-team all-district honors as a senior at Boswell High School where he was a three-year letterwinner.
