AS A JUNIOR Kina had another fantastic season, appearing in all 30 games with 24 starts, averaging 14.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 3.5 apg ranked in the top 10 in the Patriot League in scoring (10th), assists (6th) and steals (3rd) was one of five players (three Navy players) to rank in the top 10 in scoring and assists teamed with Chris Harris and Greg Sprink to provide the most lethal scoring trio at Navy in the past 20 years (since the David Robinson era) ranked in the top 20 of single-season assists (105) and steals (54) enjoyed his outings against Bucknell last year, setting new career highs in each game during the regular season. He averaged 21.3 ppg and 3.7 apg while shooting 24-of-53 (.453) from the field against the Bison hit a three-pointer late in the second overtime against Bucknell to send the game into a third overtime in the Patriot League Tournament against the Bison tallied a career-best 27 points (11-of-18 shooting) against Bucknell (Feb. 9) that came after a then career-best 24 points against Bucknell in the Patriot League opener (Jan. 11) scored over 20 points seven times, including two separate stretches of three games in a row averaged 22.0 ppg in a three-game span against UMES, St. Francis and Longwood (Dec. 22 to Jan. 2), while shooting 23-of-45 (.511) from the field the stretch was part of a five-game run in which he averaged 21.6 ppg then averaged 23.3 ppg against Colgate (Feb. 2), Bucknell (Feb. 9) and Lehigh (Feb. 13) recorded a double-double against Lafayette (Jan. 19) with 18 points and 10 assists. AS A SOPHOMORE Kina had another solid season, ranking second on the team in scoring (9.2 ppg), fourth in rebounding (3.3 rpg) and first in assists (81) and steals (52) played in all 30 games with 27 starts and averaged 24.7 mpg ended the season on a high note, averaging 10.9 ppg over the last seven games of the year with five double-digit performances shot 43.8 percent from the field opened the year with seven double-figure scoring performances in the first nine games, averaging 12.2 ppg through nine games tallied a season-high 23 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a home loss to Lehigh (Jan. 10) scored 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting with four assists and three rebounds in a double-overtime win over Howard (Dec. 4) one game after getting knocked out against Villanova on a hard fall, scored 18 points with seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in a fantastic all-around performance against William & Mary (Nov. 28) recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds against NCAA Tournament qualifier Villanova (Nov. 25). Was knocked out of the game with about six minutes to play after taking a hard fall and hitting his head on the floor scored 15 points with four rebounds against St. John's (Nov. 11) also scored 15 points in a road win at Lehigh (Feb. 7). Averaged 19.0 ppg in two games against the Mountan Hawks helped lead Navy to a Star Game win over Army (Feb. 17), with 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals scored 13 points with three rebounds, three assists and three steals in a road loss at Colgate (Feb. 24) was the lone Mid in double figures in the Patriot League Tournament loss to Bucknell (Feb. 28), with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting netted 11 points with three rebounds and three steals in an overtime win at Longwood (Dec. 1) scored 10 points with six rebounds and four assists in a road win at Lafayette (Feb. 10) had a solid season opener, scoring 10 points against Loyola (Md.) (Nov. 10) with five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Was 8-of-8 from the line against the Greyhounds dished out at least three assists in 15 games scored in double figures in 14 games.
AS A FRESHMAN Kina had one of the best freshman seasons in school history, ranking second on the team in scoring (10.4 ppg) and first in assists (93) and steals (36) was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team his 292 points as a freshman were the fifth most in school history, while his 10.4 ppg ranked sixth among Navy freshmen all-time attempted 237 field goals, the fifth most ever by a Navy freshman connected on 42-of-108 (.389) three-pointers, ranking third in three-pointers made, third in three-point attempts and sixth in three-point percentage connected on 72-of-88 (.818) free throws, good for fifth on the Navy freshman free throws made and percentage lists lastly, his 36 steals and 93 assists were the second most ever by a Navy freshman one of just three freshmen (Cliff Rees - 1985; Corey Johnson - 2005) to rank in the top eight in single-season points and assists by a Navy freshman tallied 24 points, including a career-best six three-pointers against UMBC. Added six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block against the Retrievers scored 19 points three different times, coming against Washington (Md.), Holy Cross (Feb. 1) and Lafayette (Feb. 11), while contributing eight assists and five rebounds against Washington (Md.) in a fine all-around performance besides his 19 points, had an outstanding floor game against Lafayette, adding nine rebounds and seven assists, while committing just two turnovers in 32 minutes of action scored 14 points with five rebounds and four assists against Air Force added 14 points, six assists and four rebounds against Yale earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades on Jan. 23, 2006, after averaging 12.0 ppg and 2.5 apg in games against Longwood and Army scored 11 points with six assists against Susquehanna tallied 15 points in the Patriot League Tournament against Holy Cross scored in double-figures 15 times in 2005-06 dished out at least five assists seven different times.
A 2005 graduate of Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix, Ariz., where he earned three letters in basketball a two-time first-team all-region guard named honorable mention all-state as a junior and second-team all-state as a senior two-year captain of the basketball team, he led Trevor Browne to the 2004 Northwest Valley region championship with a 24-6 record in 2003, the basketball team produced a 29-5 record, won the Northwest Valley region championship and was among the final four in the state also earned a letter in football where he was named the team's most improved player as a wideout his senior campaign served as Student Government Vice President of his junior and senior classes member of the National Honor Society member of the Races United Club.
