Navy enters the Patriot League Tournament with nothing to lose and will face the same opponent it ended the regular-season against -- Bucknell. The Bison defeated the Midshipmen, 64-55, on Saturday night using a 7-0 run late in the first half to break open a tight game. The Midshipmen are last in the Patriot League in scoring offense (57.7 ppg), free throw percentage (.684), field goal percentage (.402), three-point percentage (.274), assists per game (11.4 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (0.79) and three-pointers made per game (5.3). The Mids, however, have been very competitive in most of their games, losing 13 games by single-digits and eight of them by six points or less. Jordan Sugars
leads Navy in scoring at 11.7 ppg.
Bucknell enters the Patriot League Tournament looking for its second straight Patriot League Tournament championship and with a 22-8 overall record. The Bison were the regular-season champions with a 12-2 league record, had four players named to the all-Patriot League teams and boasted the league's Coach of the Year (Dave Paulsen) and defensive player of the year (Bryan Cohen). Bucknell led the Patriot League in scoring defense (60.7 ppg), field goal percentage (.461), defensive field goal percentage (.390) and rebounding margin (+6.6).
Navy leads the all-time series, 34-29, but Bucknell has won four straight over the Midshipmen and are looking for its second straight season sweep of the Midshipmen. Prior to the current stretch, Navy won five-of-six meetings against Bucknell. Sojka Pavilion has been a house of horrors for Navy, as the Mids are 2-9 against Bucknell there.
