Holy Cross 69, Lehigh 57

(AP) - Tim Szatko scored seven of his team-high 14 points in a 21-2 first half run as Holy Cross beat Lehigh 69-57 in the semifinals of the Patriot League tournament Sunday. The Crusaders (21-7) will host Navy in Friday's championship game. It will be Holy Cross's first appearance in the finals since losing at Colgate in 1996, a game which began a five game tournament losing streak. Lehigh (13-16) had an opportunity to tie the game with 9:59 left in the first half, but a missed free throw left Holy Cross on top 10-9. Ryan Serravalle started the key run for Holy Cross with a jumper from the corner at 8:39. He contributed six of his eight points during the run, which put the Crusaders ahead 31-16 with 1:19 left in the half. Lehigh shot only 28 percent from the field in the first half, and was out-rebounded 28-15 in the first 20 minutes, which ended with Holy Cross ahead 36-21. The Crusaders then built their lead to 65-37 on Jared Curry's layup with 5:32 left in the second half. That was the last Holy Cross field goal, and Lehigh was able to cut into the lead down the stretch against the Crusader reserves, hitting six of its final seven shots _ five of them 3-pointers. Curry scored 13 points for Holy Cross. Josh Sankes grabbed 14 rebounds and Szatki had 10 boards for Holy Cross, which out-rebounded Lehigh 47-26. Matt Logie paced Lehigh with 13 points.
