ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy men's basketball point guard Tilman Dunbar was a unanimous selection to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team, the league office announced on Monday. Dunbar becomes the 18th Navy player in 22 years to be named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team.

As a program, the Midshipmen have had an all-rookie team member in seven of the last nine years, including four honorees in the last three seasons.

Dunbar, a 5-10, 153-pound freshman from Woodbridge, Va., averaged 9.6 points per game and 5.0 assists per game during the regular season to lead the Patriot League in assists. He needs just one assist to become the eighth player in Navy history with 150 assists in a season and he ranks fourth nationally in assists with 149. He was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week four times this year and recorded double-doubles in points and assists against both Binghamton and Bryant.

On the school's single-season freshman charts, Dunbar ranks seventh in points (287), 10th in scoring average (9.6 ppg), seventh in field goals made (107), third in field goal attempts (280), fifth in free throws made (73), fifth in free throw attempts (107), first in assists (149), first in assists per game (4.96), first in games started (30), third in minutes played (913), seventh in double-figure games (15) and eighth in double-doubles (2). In addition, he is the Patriot League's all-time freshman leader in assists, surpassing Lehigh's Marquis Hall (133 in 2006-07), who would finish his career ranked second on the league's all-time list (566).

Dunbar was joined on the squad by Lafayette's Bryce Scott, Holy Cross' Cullen Hamilton and Army's Kyle Toth and Kyle Wilson. Dunbar, Scott and Wilson were all unanimous selections, while Wilson was selected as the league's Rookie of the Year.

Bucknell's Mike Muscala was named the league's Player and Defensive Player of the Year, while Army coach Zach Spiker was honored as the Coach of the Year.

Navy will face Muscala and Bucknell in Wednesday night's Patriot League Tournament Quarterfinals, beginning at 7:00 PM at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa.
