Asavane To Play For Maryland Mustangs
Links associated with this release: UPPER MARLBORO, Md.-Former Naval Academy basketball great Sitapha Savane ('00) has signed to play with the Maryland Mustangs in the United States Basketball League. Savane has recently returned from Spain where he played professionally. The Mustangs are currently in first place in the Northern Division of the USBL with a 14-7 record. Maryland has nine games remaining including four at home: June 9 against Kansas; June 16 against Atlantic City; June 17 against Pennsylvania (which includes Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowler Randy Moss) and June 22 against Atlantic City. The Mustangs are coached by former Boston Celtic great Robert Parish and play its home games at Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. Other local players on the team include George Evans (George Mason) and Johnny Rhodes (Maryland).
