ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After playing its last six of seven games away from home, the Navy men's basketball team (5-3) will play a pair of home games at Alumni Hall this weekend. Navy will first host Delaware (4-3) on Friday at 7:00 PM and then host Morgan State (4-3) on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Free live video and live statistics will be available for both games. Friday's game will be on the radio in Annapolis on 1430 AM WNAV. Pete Medhurst and Michael Heary will handle the announcing duties for the live video and radio broadcasts.
Navy had a very busy opening stretch of the 2017-18 season, playing eight games in the season's first 17 days. When Navy played its eighth game last Sunday against Denver, only Chicago State (9) had played more than Navy.
Navy went 2-1 in its three games at the Homewood Suites FGCU Shootout in Fort Myers, Florida last weekend.
The Mids defeated St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday, 85-76, fell to host FGCU on Saturday, 70-54, and finished the Shootout with a 79-71 win over Denver on Sunday.
Senior guard Bryce Dulin scored a team-high 20 points in the win over Denver on Sunday and was Navy's lone representative on the Homewood Suites FGCU Shootout All-Tournament Team.
Dulin scored in double figures in all three of Navy's games at the Shootout.
Navy played six of its last seven games away from home. Navy will be playing its ninth game of the season on Friday against Delaware, but just its third home game.
For the second time this season, Navy is receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.
Navy has had balanced scoring this season and six different players scored in double figures at the FGCU Shootout.
Senior guard Shawn Anderson is leading Navy in scoring for the third straight season at 12.3 points per game.
Anderson scored his 1,000th career point against FGCU last Saturday. Anderson currently ranks 23rd in program history with 1,030 career points. Anderson is 58 points from tying Jack Conrad `71 for 22nd place on Navy's career scoring chart.
Dulin ranks second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game and senior forward Tom Lacey is third in scoring (10.6) and first in rebounding (5.8).
Junior guard Hasan Abdullah is averaging 8.9 points and junior forward George Kiernan is averaging 7.1 points.
Abdullah leads the Patriot League in total steals (18) and steals per game (2.3).
Abdullah ranks 21st in the NCAA in total steals (18).
Navy ranks first in the Patriot League in scoring defense (68.8), while ranking second in scoring margin (+3.5) and second in rebounding margin (+4.0).
Navy is 15-0 in the last two seasons when scoring at least 70 points.
Head coach Ed DeChellis is in his seventh season at Navy.
Delaware enters Friday's contest at 4-3 overall and 2-3 against Division I opponents this season.
The Blue Hens defeated Richmond in their season opener, 76-63, and also defeated Longwood, 65-57.
Delaware's three losses came to Bradley (61-53), UNCG (79-66) and Yale (76-66) in its most recent game on Monday.
The Blue Hens have also defeated non-Division I opponents Wesley, 93-78, and NC Wesleyan, 88-70.
Senior guard Anthony Mosley scored a game-high 23 points and was 9-of-10 at the free throw line against Yale on Monday.
Freshman guard Ryan Allen scored 16 points, while sophomore guard Ryan Daly added 13 points in 40 minutes of playing time.
Daly leads Delaware in scoring this season at 15.4 points per game, while Mosley is second at 12.0.
Allen and freshman guard Kevin Anderson are each averaging 11.8 points, while junior forward Eric Carter makes it five Delaware players averaging double figures at 10.2 points per game.
Delaware was 13-20 overall last season and 5-13 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Head coach Martin Ingelsby is in his second season at Delaware. He spent the previous 13 seasons on the coaching staff at Notre Dame.
Series History vs. Delaware
Navy leads the all-time series against Delaware, 22-8.
The teams are meeting for the first time since Jan. 4, 1993 when Delaware posted a 79-58 win in Newark.
The all-time series began on Jan. 30, 1909 when Navy defeated Delaware in the inaugural meeting, 48-9.
Looking Ahead: Navy to Host Morgan State on Sunday
Navy will play its second home game of the weekend when hosting Morgan State on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Morgan State will enter Sunday's game at 4-3 on the season.
The Navy women's team will host Emory & Henry on Sunday at 3:15 PM in the second game of a Navy basketball doubleheader on Sunday.
Shuttle / Parking Information
All fans attending the game are encouraged to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Fans can enter Gate 5 off Taylor Ave. and pay $5 for parking. The shuttle is free and the pick up and drop off spot is in front of the Blue Angel plane. The shuttle will run from one hour before the start of the game to one hour after the game concludes. Fans ages 18 and over need photo ID to enter the Academy. Parking at the stadium is the best option for fans attending the game. Due to Naval Academy security restrictions, the general public can not drive their vehicles on to the Yard. The pedestrian entries at Gate 1, Gate 3 and Gate 8, will be open.
