Dunbar Named Patriot League Player of the Week
Dec. 9, 2013
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy men's basketball point guard Tilman Dunbar has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Dunbar had a career day in Navy's lone game last week, a 79-74 win over The Citadel.
Dunbar has also been selected as the NAAA Athlete of the Week presented by Rolls-Royce for the week ending December 8.
Dunbar notched career-highs of 28 points and eight rebounds as Navy (5-3) won its third game in a row and its fifth out of its last six last Wednesday. Dunbar also had seven assists, two steals and one block.
Dunbar shot 7-of-12 from the floor and was 14-of-17 from the free throw line. The 14 made free throws are a career high and he made eight free throws in the final 74 seconds of the game to seal the win.
Dunbar, a sophomore, earns his first player of the week award after claiming four rookie of the week accolades from the conference last season. He was also named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team last year.
This is Navy's first Patriot League Player of the Week honor since 2009-10.
Navy will play at Bryant on Saturday at 12:30 PM. The game will be televised on the Ocean State Network on Cox Cable.
