Last Year at the Eastern Sprints
Navy had all five boats finish in the top five of their respective finals and the varsity eight placed ninth - its best finish since 2008 - at last year's EARC Sprints in Worcester. Navy's first freshman boat placed fourth in the grand final, while the second freshman boat took second in the grand final. Overall, Navy placed sixth in the Rowe Cup standings, which was the team's highest placing since taking fifth in 1994.

The Last Time Out
Navy swept all five races with Columbia on April 29 in Princeton, N.J. The varsity eight improved to 13-4 and retained the Stevenson Trophy by defeating Columbia's varsity eight by a boat length.

Quoting the Coach
Head coach Rick Clothier on this weekend's EARC Sprints...

"We're obviously excited to race. We have some of our highest overall seedings in quite a while, but that certainly doesn't guarantee anything. We have great respect for this league; there is so much parity across all the crews.

"It's always a challenge coming off exams and we've had a tight practice schedule this week. We want our guys to do their best academically and also be at our best for our championship races."
