Navy Places Pair of Boats in IRA Petite Finals

CAMDEN, N.J. - Navy's heavyweight crew team advanced
two boats to the petite finals of the Intercollegiate
Rowing Association National Championship, being held
this week on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
Advancing to Saturday's petite finals were the novice
eight and the open four with coxswain boats. The
novice eight crew, which won its repechage race on
Thursday, advanced to the petite final with a
sixth-place finish in Friday's semifinal with a time
of 6:20.68. The open four team placed third in
Friday's repechage race with a time of 7:26.28 to
also move on to the petite final.
Advancing to third-level finals were the second
varsity eight, the varsity four with coxswain, the
varsity four without coxswain, the varsity pair, and
the novice four with coxswain crews. Navy's varsity
eight boat will compete in Saturday's fourth-level
final.
In addition to the heavyweight crew races on Saturday,
Navy's lightweight crew team will also be in action
with its varsity eight boat.
