Lightweight Rowing's Paul Awarded Prestigious Scholarship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Thomas Paul, a senior on the Navy lightweight rowing team, has been awarded the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Paul, a native of Norfolk, Va., was one of just 40 college students from the U.S. selected for the award last month. Since it establishment in 2000, he is the 10th individual from the Naval Academy to receive the scholarship.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation pays for outstanding students to pursue graduate degrees at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
Paul is a three-year member of the lightweight rowing team and 2012 will mark his second consecutive season as coxswain of the first varsity boat.
Following Cambridge, he will continue his career as a nuclear option surface warfare officer.
