ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy lightweight rowing team will travel north to take on Columbia on Saturday at Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park, N.J. Racing on Overpeck Creek is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the third varsity race. The first freshman race will take place at 10:20 a.m., with the second varsity and varsity races following at 10:40 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
Navy's varsity eight enters the weekend looking to pick up its first win of the season after falling to Princeton and Yale to start the season.
Last Year Against Columbia
Navy defeated Columbia in both the first and second varsity races last April on the Severn River in Annapolis. The Mids took the first varsity race by six seconds and won the second varsity competition by 20 seconds.
The Last Time Out
Navy dropped all four races to Yale last weekend, including the varsity eight race, as the Bulldogs retained the Eads Johnson Trophy.
Navy will return to Annapolis to host Georgetown and Harvard on consecutive weekends. The Mids will meet the Hoyas next Saturday, April 14, on the Severn River, and then take on Harvard for the Haines Trophy on April 21. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. both days.
