WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Navy lightweight crew team will begin the second half of its regular season Saturday when the Midshipmen make the short drive to Washington, D.C., to compete against Georgetown on the Potomac River. Racing begins at 7:45 a.m., with the varsity boats taking to the water at 8:30 a.m.

Navy's varsity boat improved its record to 3-1 on the season by defeating both Rutgers and Columbia by four seconds this past Sunday in New Jersey. The victory was one of four on the day compiled by the Mids as the Navy program completed its first sweep of the races this season.

The Mids also posted a four-race sweep of the Hoyas when the teams faced each other last season in Annapolis. Included in the results was a nine-second victory by Navy in the varsity race.

"Georgetown looks to have good speed this year and I believe it will be another close race for our varsity boat," said Navy head coach Rob Friedrich. "Our young boat seems to be getting faster each week, so we hope to put our best race together this weekend."
