ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The No. 8 Navy lightweight rowing team will look to build on its momentum from last weekend's sweep of Georgetown with another home meet versus another EARC rival, this time against No. 4 Harvard. The Mids and Crimson will battle it out on Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m. on the Severn River. The winner of the varsity eight race will take home the Haines Trophy. Harvard is currently on a five-race winning streak in Haines Trophy competitions dating back to 2009.
The five-event slate of races begins at 8:00 a.m. with the varsity eight competition. Starting in 20 minute increments, the rest of the morning's schedule will be as follows, second varsity (8:20), first freshmen (8:40), third varsity (9:00) and second freshmen (9:20).

"It's great to be at home again this weekend against such a quality team as Harvard," said Navy head coach Shawn Bagnall. "This marks the last race on the Severn for the Firsties before they go on to serve their country, bringing both gravity and celebration to our morning. The Midshipmen know that this is yet another great test of their progress and speed this year, and there is little doubt they want to make the most of the opportunity."
Last season on the Charles River, Navy went one-for-four versus Harvard on the road. The then first-ranked Crimson earned the Haines Trophy with a 10.5-second victory over the Mids' V8 boat, 6:44.3 to 6:54.8. Navy's lone victory that April 20 morning came in the third varsity race with a 12.6-second win.
