Lightweight Crew Sweeps Past MIT
Links associated with this release: CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Navy's lightweight crew team swept past the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, winning all four races Sunday morning on the Charles River in Cambridge, Mass. Navy's first varsity boat finished the 2000-meter course in a time of 6:35.6, 17 seconds ahead of the MIT boat. Navy's second and third varsity boats both defeated the second varsity shell for MIT. The second varsity won the race with a time of 6:52.5, ahead of Navy's third varsity boat at 7:00.3, as well MIT at 7:11.7. Navy won the novice races by 53 seconds (first novice) and 101 seconds (second novice). "It was a good day for us," said Navy head coach Dale Hurley. "We didn't race as well as we wanted to on Saturday (against Harvard), but we responded well today and raced much better. "This is a good way to start our week of preparation for Saturday's race against Penn." Navy will play host to Pennsylvania this Saturday on the Severn River in its only home race of the season.
