Navy's lightweight crew team will compete in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges Regatta, Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Trial heats will be raced in the morning, with finals to follow in the afternoon.

Navy's first varsity boat enters the weekend having won its last two races, including a victory over Pennsylvania in the Callow Cup just two weeks ago on the Severn River. The Mids are ranked seventh in the 15-team EARC coaches poll.

Navy's second and third varsity boats have both posted 7-3 records this spring and are ranked fifth and fourth, respectively. In a sign of strong future success for the program, Navy's first novice team has posted a 7-1 record this season and is ranked forth in the EARC, while the second novice team is ranked first in the league and has only one loss on the year to a non-Navy boat.

"All of our boats will have to race well to get into the finals, but I feel it is something they are capable of accomplishing," said head coach Dale Hurley. "No matter who advances to the finals I expect all of the races to be close, so it is not unrealistic to think we could walk away with a few medals.

"Our goal at the beginning of the season was to have our teams advance to the finals and contend for the Jope Cup, which is awarded to the team with the most points at the meet. At the beginning of the year, our goal appeared a bit lofty for us. In the middle of the season, I started to think we might be able to accomplish it. Now, entering the meet, it is not only believable, but possible."
